„These elections will finally seal the fate of Kosovo Serbs because after each newly formed government in Serbia, the people here found themselves in an increasingly worse political position,“ the editor of Radio Gorazdevac, Darko Dimitrijević, told KoSSev a day after the election process that forced voters from Kosovo to travel once again to Serbia proper in order to exercise their right to vote.
Dimitrijević stated that the number of citizens from Kosovo who vote in Serbian elections is decreasing with each passing year. The number of Serbs living in Kosovo is also decreasing, he warns:
„Because no one has humiliated the Serbs here like the Serbian Progressive Party and Srpska Lista did, no one has betrayed them and failed their hopes and expectations.“
He recalled Vučić’s promises to Serbs from Kosovo, stressing that the Serbian president actually „gave them false hope“.
„From Vučić’s words that he will never surrender Kosovo, we first came to – ‘I will not surrender Gazivode’ and ‘I will not give away Valač’, then in the end we came to the sad fact – that the people are being led to vote in Serbia proper, because everything for which they claim they would not surrender – they have done so,“ said the Editor-in-Chief of Radio Gorazdevac.
Speaking of the fact that Kosovo Serbs were once again forced to vote outside of the territory of Kosovo, Dimitrijević said:
„In these elections as well, Serbs stood in endless lines of vehicles, now with RKS license plates that replaced those that Vučić first did not give up on, but then handed over.“
„No one has ever played with the national feelings of the Serbs, who have lost all hope and faith that things can ever improve here. Many will continue to leave Kosovo in silence, while those who led the people to vote and the biggest party activists will be employed in the Provisional Bodies, Health Centers and other institutions that are the only traces of Serbia here,“ said Dimitrijević.
He warned that those traces will also be „obscured due to party-related hiring.“
„There is no collective consciousness about anything. This is how we came to the election that will finally seal the fate of the Kosovo Serbs, because after every newly formed government in Serbia, the people here were in an increasingly worse political position,“ Dimitrijević assessed.
He referred to the French-German, that is, European agreement, recalling the initiative to include it in Chapter 35 of the process of Serbia’s accession to the European Union.
„Even though the president spoke negatively about it during the campaign, as he did many times before, I am sure that the new Government of Serbia, when it is formed, will accept that plan, and the Serbs who stood in line to vote will thereby be crushed by another false hope which was given to them by the current government“, Dimitrijević concluded.
In Serbia yesterday, votes were cast for a new parliament and local governments in 65 self-governing municipalities, including Belgrade.
Once again, Serbs from Kosovo did not vote in the places where they live, instead, they went to exercise their civil rights in the nearest towns in Serbia proper. In addition to crowds at the polling stations, voting was also marked by hours-long delays at the crossings to Serbia proper.
According to the data of the Republic Election Commission, 23,878 people from Kosovo voted yesterday out of a total of 94,161 of registered voters.
The list „Aleksandar Vučić – Serbia Must Not Stop“ won the majority of votes of Serbs from Kosovo – 17,087 or 71.56%.
