A white „Fiat Punto“ vehicle with KM license plates, owned by ethnic Serb (S.N.), was burnt out in Zvecan last night.
As the Kosovo Police of the region north confirmed for KoSSev, the police station in Zvecan was notified about the car arson by phone at 00:50.
The police found the torched vehicle on Cara Dusana Street. The owner, who was also present at the scene, gave a statement to the police.
Firefighting units from Zvecan and North Mitrovica put out the fire. The Kosovo Police underlined that the vehicle was completely damaged.
By the order of the investigative department, an investigation was carried out, and the prosecutor on duty initiated the case of „causing general danger“.
This is the fifth car arson case in the north since the beginning of this year. In early June, an „Audi A6 Allroad“ owned by a man M.A was set on fire in Zubin Potok. At the beginning of April, the car of a 22-year-old woman in North Mitrovica was set on fire. In the same month, in Zubin Potok, a car with foreign license plates owned by a woman from Kosovo was lit on fire. Also in Zubin Potok, the police received a report that on May 2nd, unknown persons set fire to two tires on a car parked in a private yard.
With the exception of a bombing case, as well as at least one car arson during October 2021 unrest in the north, this is the 56th case of vehicle arson in Serb-populated areas since 2014. See the full list of car torchings HERE.
