The large and quiet Sarplaninac dog, who loved to cuddle and approach children and adults on the boardwalk, was shot dead last night.
„This was a daily occurrence on the Mitrovica promenade. Groups of children, little kids in strollers, and youth, would hug this peaceful giant. He had a huge heart. A mascot that we believed would raise generations and generations of children. Tonight, their love was shot at,“ the association members wrote in a Facebook post.
Unfortunately, this is not the first such case in North Mitrovica, as a number of dogs – both owned and stray dogs – have been either shot dead or poisoned in the past.
The “Paw” association said that it reported all cases to the police, stressing that “not a single perpetrator has been found and brought to justice, despite all the cameras in the city and collected evidence.“
