“The newly-appointed Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development in the Kosovo Government, Dijana Zivic has as much influence on Kosovo Serbs as the protesters she brought out in Gracanica,” the Serbian Minister of Defense, Aleksandar Vulin said on TV Pink on Monday. He added that „the only activity of that woman was the participation in the organization of protests against President Vucic in Gracanica“, and that the appointment of „private, home Serbs“ is nothing unusual as it gives an illusion of multi-ethnicity.
Vulin explained that the term „private Serb,“ which was also used by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic to describe Zivic, refers to those Serbs “who do not represent anyone, who represent themselves, who sometimes have client connections with representatives of the authorities in Pristina, and who are sometimes blackmailed.“
He claimed that Zivic was appointed following the protest in Gracanica, which was attended by “five, six people,” adding that it is not easy to find a Serb “who will protest and complain against his state.”
The Minister of Defense compared Zivic’s appointment with the recruitment of Serbs in the “so-called paramilitaries in Kosovo”:
„It’s similar to the so-called paramilitaries in Kosovo, when they invite Serbs to join the army. Well, they do not do it because they want them to be officers, because they want them to be there as human beings, as fighters, they only need the excuse that this paramilitary is actually multi-ethnic.“
Kosovo Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj wrote on his Facebook profile that about 40 Serbs applied to join the Kosovo Security Forces. The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, however, denied Haradinaj’s claims today and urged Kosovo Serbs not to join this formation.
Vucic also joins Vulin in raising voices against Zivic, backed by Srpska Lista as well.
They also described her as a „fictitious minister whose party not even 5% of Serbs voted for“, „uneducated“ and „unqualified“.
The newly appointed Kosovo Minister of Agriculture, Dijana Zivic is a longtime member of the Independent Liberal Party (SLS) and enjoys the absolute support of this party, the SLS President Slobodan Petrovic stated today during a press conference held in Gracanica today on the occasion of Zivic’s appointment.
Petrovic denied all allegations, recalling that SLS has been a parliamentary party for the last 12 years and that “it is quite normal for it to be part of the executive authority.”
