Srećko Spasić, leader of the “Srpska Narodna Sloga” initiative from Klokot, has withdrawn from the upcoming mayoral runoff and joined the Srpska Lista, along with all members and assembly representatives of his group. Srpska Lista announced the move today.

Klokot is the only Serb-majority municipality in Kosovo heading into a second round of local elections, out of a total of 18 municipalities.

According to Central Election Commission data, the runoff was set to take place between Božidar Dejanović of Srpska Lista, who received 883 votes in the first round, and Srećko Spasić, who secured 673 votes. The third-ranking candidate, Albanian Arber Emini, received 518 votes.

Less than a week before the second round, Spasić announced he was dropping out of the race and aligning himself with Srpska Lista, stating that he and his supporters “unreservedly believe in President Aleksandar Vučić and the institutions of our state Serbia.”

On behalf of the former ‘Srpska Narodna Sloga’ citizens’ initiative, we wish to contribute to Serbian unity and, with all our resources, join Srpska Lista, the political family that brings together the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.”

In a public statement, Spasić confirmed that he would not be participating in the second round scheduled for Sunday, November 9.

“I, Srećko Spasić, wish to inform the public and all citizens of Klokot municipality that I am withdrawing from the election race, and will not participate in the second round of mayoral elections on November 9. All my strength and energy, together with the former members of Srpska Narodna Sloga—now members of Srpska Lista—will be invested in the victory of Srpska Lista, under number 170, in these and all future elections.”

Srpska Lista welcomed the move, calling it a sign of “maturity and responsibility,” and urged others to follow suit.

“On Sunday, November 9, vote for Srpska Lista under number 170, showing that only unity, solidarity, and joint effort can guarantee a better future for our people in Kosovo and Metohija.”
