The Kosovo Special Prosecution has filed an indictment against a man identified as H.S., charging him with espionage on behalf of Serbia’s Security Information Agency (BIA).
According to the indictment, H.S., an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo, allegedly worked with BIA officials from November 2009 until his arrest in May of this year. Prosecutors claim he traveled to Serbia on November 22, 2015, where he joined the terrorist organization ISIS.
During his time with ISIS, H.S. is accused of sending BIA information about the number of Albanians in the group, their internal structure, and the parts of Syria where they were active.
After serving a prison sentence for participating in terrorist organizations and returning to Kosovo, prosecutors say H.S. continued meeting BIA officials in Serbia, including the agency’s Director for Counterterrorism, identified as I.B. He allegedly provided further sensitive information in exchange for monthly payments of up to €700.
H.S. was arrested in May as part of a broader crackdown on suspected espionage for the Serbian intelligence agency. He is one of six people detained on similar charges across Kosovo.
