„Full support for our boys in blue“ – reads the message of the Kosovo Minister for Communities and Returns to young Serb police officers who resigned from the Kosovo Police in the north, believing that they made the move under pressure.

Although some Kosovo media reported that a total of seven Kosovo Serbs resigned, in his letter, Rasic addresses three of them, the figure confirmed by the head of EULEX yesterday.
At today’s media conference, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani confirmed that seven police officers resigned.

„Yesterday, three young policemen resigned from their positions where they had hardly even began working. They started and ended their short career with targets being drawn on them, insults, belittling, with threats to themselves but also to their family members. Unfortunately, there is probably not a single Kosovo Serb who has not personally experienced, at least once, the ferocious threats from the ‘invisible mountain force’ which with its destructive methods destroys every effort and every desire for coexistence in our beautiful Kosovo,“ Rasic wrote in a letter published on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Communities and Returns.

According to this minister, in the past 11 years, „irreparable damage“ has been done to the survival of Serbs in Kosovo.

„And of course, it doesn’t end there, they tell us that they will ‘fight’ to the last Kosovo Serb. What did I do to deserve this?“

„My fellow citizens, young members of the Kosovo Police, from my personal experience I know very well what you and your families are going through. A brigade of heartless mercenaries follows us with the task of stealing our plans and dreams, destroying our families and lives, sucking our blood and will to live, until we become zombies wandering aimlessly around our hearths that we were always proudest of. I may not know you personally, but believe me I am well aware of the cruel methodology of their work and I know how difficult it is to remain conscientious and moral in the abnormal and immoral conditions that are forced upon us.“

He even quoted Nelson Mandela with the message that the fight will continue.

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear

He also states that „we have each other“, without providing details, but mentioning Serbia, and promising that he will stand by them.

„Our famous libertarian spirit has always won in the history of Serbia, even when the situation sometimes seemed very difficult and hopeless. Your generations have a heavy burden of responsibility in establishing and strengthening human and moral values, everything dignified and noble that your parents taught you, and I know that you will win in that battle. From today, I want to promise you that I will be with you in all my personal and institutional capacities. My door will be open to all of you. I personally, as well as the Ministry of Communities and Returns in the Government of Kosovo, make ourselves available to you, to help in every possible way to overcome our fears, challenges, doubts together… Sincerely yours“.

International and Kosovo officials condemned what they interpreted as pressure on new policemen of Serbian ethnicity who recently became KP members in the North.
The head of Eulex was the first to confirm that three young Serbs had resigned from the Kosovo Police yesterday. However, neither EULEX, nor the Kosovo Police, even two days later, do not present details to the public. They did not answer our questions, while EULEX, in its answer today to yesterday’s questions, once again expressed „concern“ and referred us to the police.

The police station in the north gained 74 new police officers last month, all of them from non-Albanian communities. More than half (45) are ethnic Serbs, 16 are Bosniaks, 3 are Turks and 8 are members of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities.

The officers are part of a group of 418 Kosovo Police cadets who recently completed their training. At a ceremony marking the end of the six-month police training course, which was held in mid July in Pristina, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti emphasized that this service is “the most reliable institution in Kosovo, a continuation of the Kosovo Liberation Army.“
The Serbs from the north of Kosovo left most of Kosovo’s institutions in November, including more than 500 police officers.

Since Serbs left the police force, their jobs have been taken by Albanian policemen from other regions throughout Kosovo.

The work of the regular police, however, has been overshadowed for months by the presence and deployment of special police units in the North, with at least four bases and several checkpoints.
