Janjic: No lynching, it was a conflict between two groups of politically opposed young men

Sava Janjić

The abbot of the Visoki Decani monastery, Sava Janjic, who condemned the attack on Nenad Rasic’s son on Monday, reacted again yesterday, revealing that he had learned from „verified information“ of the Kosovo police and „informed“ international sources that „no lynching“ took place in Laplje Selo on Monday, but that it was a conflict between „two groups of politically opposed young men.“

„I am certain that no one can deny this because I know for sure that the K. Police and the leading embassies in Kosovo know the following information,“ Janjic said.

He then proceeded to explain that the two groups previously came to blows on Thursday and Friday and that the police have this information. Janjic revealed that Nikola Rasic was not the only one who was injured and that members of both groups have been arrested.

He also accused Nenad Rasic of „organizing a spin with Albanian politicians about the alleged lynching for political reasons“.

„Immediately after the incident, which was previously announced on social networks, Nenad Rasic, according to verified sources, agreed with the Kosovo Albanian leaders to create a spin on the alleged lynching due to political reasons, and thus deceived the public. It is not the first time that children suffer because of the political mistakes of their parents. This is sad. More informed people know more about that,“ Janjic said.

Nenad Rasic commented on the allegations of the abbot of the Visoki Decani monastery, Sava Janjic for KoSSev, saying that he „expected much, much more from such a spiritual man“. Read more: Rasic: My son did not know that the fight was organized, the school was open on Monday

According to the abbot, this explains the „strange fact that Nenad Rasic did not want to give a statement for the Serb media after the fight, instead, he ran to the Albanian portals, which gladly spread the lie that Srpska Lista allegedly lynched children for political reasons and published a photo of the fight.“

Our people have a saying – you lie down with the devil, you wake up in hell.

He expressed regret for being „personally deceived by this spin“ – which „shows how young people are exposed to the political games of irresponsible people who are involved in politics because of the struggle for power and greed, and not out of concern for the Serbian people“.

Janjic underlined that he did not share these allegations with the aim of supporting „this or that group“ because, as he says, „we did not even vote in the elections“.

„This, of course, has nothing to do with the support for any political option, because as the Church we remain the guardian of the spiritual unity of all Serbs for whose survival we are fighting. And we will not survive if we divide ourselves and play political games that can cost us dearly.“

The church is there not to divide Serbs, but to unite them around what is holy and good, and not around ideology

In his words, this does not diminish the „horror of the brutal confrontation“ of young people in which the son of Nenad Rasic, Nikola suffered the most serious injuries – “nor does it justify the insults or violence while calling on Serbhood and religion (which can be heard in the video) and which can be read on Instagram posts.“

At the same time, he says that it is „tragic“ that the leaders of the Kosovo Albanians „used what they knew was a lie for their own purposes to cause a quarrel among the Serbs.“

„I doubt that the Kosovo police will ever come out with all these details due to pressure from Pristina, about which, I hear, all Western embassies have been informed, and some knew immediately what happened and what games are being played – for Serbs who it would be more suitable for the plans of the Albanian leaders to join the new government,“ Janjic added.

The lesson found in all of this is that everything should be thoroughly verified – he noted.

„Children, go back to studying, let go of the traitors and patriots narrative, help those who are poor and suffer, and use the years well and wisely,“ he said.

A fight broke out in front of the school in Laplje Selo on Monday, in which several people were injured, including Nenad Rasic’s son.

Pristina officials described the event as an attack on Rasic’s son and connected it with Belgrade and Srpska Lista. Some opposition representatives in Kosovo Serb communities and central Serbia did the same.

On the other hand, Rasic said that the investigation should provide answers. He said that he expects a „super professional investigation,“ but he also testified on several occasions about his son’s beating. He underlined that Nikola is a good child, calm and well-mannered. According to Rasic, Nikola did not cause the fight, as he was attacked. Rasic shared doubts about the political background, not necessarily of the fight itself, but the climate that preceded it, in which he was branded a traitor by the President of Serbia and Srpska Lista.

SL and the Serbian state leadership, including the President of Serbia, denied these allegations, stating that it was an organized fight between two groups of young men.

The President of Serbia also commented on the fight in Laplje Selo in the presence of the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije yesterday, specifically, he commented on the fact that the abbot of Decani, Sava Janjic, along with the parents of the arrested young men, confirmed the claim that the fight was scheduled.

The commander of the police station in Gracanica, Bratislav Trajkovic confirmed for KoSSev that the fight was previously agreed upon.
