The recently installed Exfis logo has been removed from the former NIS gas station in Mitrovica.
The Kosovo Privatization Agency announced a competition for the lease of five gas stations in northern Kosovo this Friday. On the same day, a sign featuring the name of a company dealing with petroleum products—Exfis—was displayed at a gas station in North Mitrovica. However, this logo has since been removed.
The Privatization Agency stated on Friday that offers for the recently closed gas stations in northern Kosovo would be accepted on August 9th, from 10 AM to 12 PM. However, on the very same day, shortly after the agency’s announcement, a sign with the inscription „Exfis“ was prominently displayed at the former NIS gas station in North Mitrovica.
The Priština-based Exfis company is registered as a limited liability company and operates a chain of gas stations across Kosovo.
Shortly afterward, the sign was covered with white foil. Today, however, that sign—the company’s logo—is no longer displayed at this gas station.
The removal of the sign occurred after several media outlets, including the KoSSev portal, reported that the sign was installed and then covered the same day the competition for the lease of the space was announced.
The reasons for the logo’s removal remain unclear.
In an effort to learn more details about the situation, we contacted the Kosovo Privatization Agency.
Inspection officers continued to visit and inspect gas stations in the north today. They visited a total of 15 private gas stations, which they did not close but likely gave deadlines to the owners to legalize their businesses.
