The custody of an ethnic Serb, D.O., arrested on May 29 in front of the municipal building in Zvecan, has been extended by another two months, his lawyer, Predrag Miljković, confirmed for KoSSev.

D.O. is one of the two individuals who were arrested on that day during the clash between a group of Serbs and members of KFOR.

According to prior information from his legal representative, the Kosovo authorities have charged him with „inciting resistance“ and „endangering a person under international protection“.

After the initial 48-hour detention, on May 31, his detention was extended to one month, and then at the end of August, by another two months.

After this measure expired, the Basic Court in Pristina decided today to prolong D.O.’s detention by another two months, his lawyer confirmed.

„A hearing was held today and his detention was extended by another two months,“ Miljković told KoSSev.

The lawyer added that they appealed against the court’s decision in Pristina.

„We filed an appeal against this decision today and we expect and hope that it will be accepted“ Miljković said.

According to the earlier statements of the lawyer, D.O.’s health condition was severe. Today, however, he could not reveal the condition of his client, adding that he would be visiting him soon.

„For now, I don’t know what condition he is in, but I will visit him soon and see how he is doing,“ said Miljković.

The young man in question has faced a difficult family and financial situation since early childhood. Several humanitarian actions have been organized to provide him with assistance, and KoSSev has reported about him in the past. According to video recordings provided by Radio Kim, after a clash between a group of Serbs and KFOR on May 29, D.O. can be seen calmly sitting in the first rows, showing passive resistance, when KFOR soldiers pulled him out of the crowd.
