Only two days remain until the second deadline the municipal inspectors of North Mitrovica gave to Serbian institutions to submit documentation on the registration of services or to vacate the buildings „owned by the municipality“. Srpska Lista announced once again today that it will reject this „ultimatum of Pristina“ to vacate the premises of Serb institutions.
The building in question is situated in Bosniak Mahala, where the offices of the Kosovo Office, the Kosovo-Mitrovica District, the Vucitrn Social Services Department, as well as the Office of the Pension and Insurance Fund are located.
In late August, this building, as well as some other facilities where other Serbian structures are located, was visited by the inspection department of the Municipality of North Mitrovica on two occasions.
The inspectors gave the vice-president of Srpska Lista, Igor Simic, who is also the director of one of the aforementioned Serbian institutions, a record with a deadline of three days to obtain the necessary documentation on the registration of services or to vacate the facility in Bosniak Mahala, to which this municipality claims ownership.
On August 25, when the three-day deadline ended, the new mayor of North Mitrovica, Erden Atic, decided to postpone the decision to „vacate municipal buildings“ by two weeks.
A document displayed on door of the building in Bosniak Mahala on the same day revealed that the new deadline is September 8th.
Today, two days before the expiration of this deadline, Srpska Lista again underlined that they reject “the ultimatum of the regime in Pristina” to vacate the mentioned premises.
At the same time, this party demands that the issue be resolved through dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, that is, through the establishment of the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities, recalling that the ASM was envisaged as per the agreements from 2013 and 2015.
In their words, the move is nothing but Pristina’s intention to continue escalating the situation in the north – “at any cost.”
The party also alleged that Pristina intends to „occupy“ these facilities.
They once again reminded that the aforementioned institutions of the Republic of Serbia have been providing services to all citizens without distinction for years – Serbs, Albanians, Bosniaks, Gorani, Roma, Turks, and others.
„A total of 40 families live thanks to the work of people who are employed in these institutions,“ Srpska Lista pointed out.
The entry of Kosovo structures into these buildings would threaten the human and civil rights for tens of thousands of people, they warn.
„The persecution and violent occupation of this building would threaten the realization of human and civil rights for tens of thousands of people, both in the field of pension and disability insurance and in the field of social welfare of the most vulnerable parts of the population.“
Finally, they called on the international community for help once again, two days before the second deadline is set to expire.
„We call on the international community to make maximum efforts in moments of fragile peace and prevent the regime from Pristina from escalating the situation and causing additional tensions that may have unforeseeable consequences on the ground,“ said this party
