A member of the Kosovo Police in North Mitrovica, B.P., ’81, sustained two gunshot wounds in the area of the right saddle and right leg, in a shooting that happened last night in front of the City Pub Center (formerly the Café Djura Jaksic).
The police officer’s life is not in danger and he underwent surgery, Deputy Regional Police Commander for the north Besim Hoti told KoSSev. The attacker has been identified and he is currently at large.
The shooting occurred around 3:20h this morning and was preceded by a physical confrontation between the wounded policeman, who is the owner of this well known city bar and the suspect.
B.P. was not on duty.
The same police officer was involved in an altercation earlier this year at the same pub with another police officer, when he sustained nose fracture. Neither police officer were on duty when this incident occurred.
The same bar has become known for several further physical altercations, firearm incidents and a murder that took place last year.
