The North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly has adopted during a session by which the plot of land near the Vojni Remont site was allocated to the Kosovo Ministry of Interior.
It is plot number 02606-2, with a total area of 27,400 square meters.
The decision to allocate the plot to the MIA was adopted immediately at the beginning of the assembly session – as the 2nd item on the agenda.
„Request of the MIA of the Republic of Kosovo for the allocation of plot number 02606-2, with an area of 27,400 square meters in North Mitrovica.“
The item was added to the agenda before the session itself.
It was not included in the original agenda, which was sent to us in advance by this municipality.
According to the document that we have had access to, the request for the allocation of this plot the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs forwarded to the municipality of North Mitrovica, through the mayorl Erden Atić, on December 14.
The request read that the plot is requested from this municipality for the purposes of „operational needs“.
Within the plot of the former Vojni Remont site, there are several institutions that function within the Serbian system, including the Municipality (the Provisional Authority of the Municipality of Kosovska Mitrovica), two public utility companies – Standard and Vodovod, a bus station built with funds from the European Union, a railway station, newly built sports hall. There is also an unfinished building that was supposed to house schools relocated from the south in 1999, as well as a school in the Romani language, the works on which were stopped this summer by the municipality of North Mitrovica.
Arsenijević: We will launch a petition to overturn this decision
The leader of the Serbian Democracy party, Aleksandar Arsenijević, and two other members of the same party were also present at the session.
At the session, Arsenijević objected against the decision that was adopted today.
He asked the chairman of the Assembly of this municipality, Nedžad Ugljanin, to work in „the interest of the citizens, not the police or other institutions.“
„I am begging you and appealing to you to work in the interest of the citizens, not the police or any other institution. You are a representative of citizens and as such you must respect the will of all citizens, both the majority population and minorities. You did not publish the discussion in the media, nor did we even know that there was any discussion regarding item 2 which is a very serious item for all of us. You didn’t give an explanation or anything else. I am begging and appealing to you to stop doing things like this, and we will start a petition to overturn this decision from point 2. Just tell us where we can do so.“
He also accused the current convocation of this Assembly of „doing things as twice as bad as Srpska Lista did“:
„And we believed there was nothing worse than them.“
Previously, Radoičić’s villa on Lake Gazivode and the spa complex „Rajska Banja“ were also allocated to the Kosovo MIA.
In previous years, in several disputed expropriations, the MIA of Kosovo was assigned plots of land in the north where bases had already been built.
