Another vehicle was torched in Leposavic shortly after midnight last night. This is the third privately owned car set on fire in the last month in this municipality.
„On January 9th, 2020 at 00:25h in Leposavic on Milan Radulovic Krcun Street a Peugeot car with KM license plates caught fire. The car is owned by S.S. (1984). It was parked in an unfinished garage in front of the building where the owner lives,“ Kosovo Police spokesperson for the region north Branislav Radovic told KoSSev.
10:31 – Prosecutor changes the qualification of the case into „causing general danger“
In the meantime, Lieutenant Radovic told our portal that the prosecutor in charge has changed the qualification of the case, which is no longer been investigated as „arson“ but as „causing a general danger“.
A fire crew and several police patrols from Leposavic arrived on the scene and the fire was contained. However, the car was completely destroyed.
The material damage caused by the fire is estimated at around €6,000.
The scene was examined by the Regional Unit, a forensics team and a fire inspector – Radovic said, adding that the prosecutor on duty described the case as „arson“.
The case is under investigation.
The vehicle in question is owned by the recently appointed Chief of the Kosovo-Mitrovica District, as well as the Vice-President of the 7th convocation of the Assembly of Kosovo from the ranks of Srpska Lista, Slavko Simic.
With the exception of a bombing case, this is the 44th case of torching of vehicles in Serb-populated areas since 2014. See the full list of car torchings HERE.
