Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Interior, Xhelal Sveçla, accused Belgrade of attempting to destabilize Kosovo after peacekeeping troops and police discovered detonator fuses near the village of Gnjezdane in the northern municipality of Leposavic.

KFOR and the Kosovo Police found a total of 10 fuse detonators, devices typically used to trigger explosive mechanisms, by a riverbank close to the village. Authorities said they had conducted an on-site inspection and opened a case under the charge of “unauthorized possession of weapons.” No additional details have been released.

A few hours after the discovery, Sveçla issued a public statement, once again pointing to Belgrade—before the official investigation had concluded. Known for his frequent accusations directed at Serbia, he claimed that Serbian-backed criminal structures continue to operate inside Kosovo.

“Serbia, through criminal and terrorist gangs, continues to plan and carry out terrorist attacks against the Republic of Kosovo,” Sveçla said.

He added that the presence of Kosovo Police and other security institutions prevented the detonators from being used in what he described as potentially serious attacks.

“The presence of Kosovo Police and our security institutions made it possible to seize such devices—which could have been used for dangerous terrorist attacks—and to avoid or minimize severe incidents aimed at causing harm, undermining security, and intimidating citizens,” he stated.

Sveçla reiterated that Kosovo remains committed to combating these groups, promising a firm institutional response.

“Constitutionality, legality, order, and justice will prevail over every terrorist, mafia, and criminal cell,” he said, adding, “There is no turning back.”
