Flyers calling for „resistance to Kurti’s police“ allegedly distributed in N.Mitrovica, KP suspect they were shared at the protest, SL: A ploy

Photographs of flyers calling for „resistance to Kurti’s police“ signed by „Serbian Defense“ were published last night in several groups on Telegram, as well as on other social networks. Srpska Lista party alleged that it was a ploy, calling on citizens not to fall for provocations. They also said that the flyers were spread in the evening.

Kosovo police claim that their officers found the flyers in the afternoon, with the suspicion that they were allegedly distributed during and after the protest in North Mitrovica.

What do the flyers say?

The flyers published on social networks last night were written in Cyrillic. The Serbian flag can be seen at the very top of the flyer, with the words „National Defense“ below it. One of the flyers reportedly contains „instructions for resisting Kurti’s police“.

Another flyer posted on social networks included „instructions for making a cocktail“ and then a message about „compulsory opposition“, for example:

„When Kurti’s police arrest and harass a Serb, be sure to help him defend himself from the terror!!!“

This flyer was signed with the message „Resistance begins now!!! It will continue, National Defense“.

SL: It’s a ploy – they want to blame the Serbs for any incidents

Soon after the photos of the alleged leaflets spread on social media networks, Srpska Lista reacted, saying that they had appeared on the streets of North Mitrovica in the evening.

The party called on citizens to „not fall for the provocations and ploys of some kind of National Defense“.

„We urge our fellow citizens to remain calm, because such actions, whoever carries them out, are directed against the peace and done with evil intent with the aim of further destabilization, in order to blame the Serbs for possible new incidents,“ SL said in a statement.

They even brought the flyers in connection to „someone“ who is „oppressing the Serbs“, without sharing any other details.

„Obviously, someone wants to present the Serbs as violent and deflect the pressure from themselves on the account of their oppression of the Serbs. The Serbian people from Kosovo will continue to fight for the protection of their rights and interests in these areas using peaceful methods,“ they underlined.

KP: We suspect that the fliers were distributed during and after the protest

While the news about the flyers reached the media and the public last night, the Kosovo Police told KoSSev that they had been informed about them earlier in the day, that is, they allegedly found the fliers in the afternoon.

The KP suspect that the flyers were allegedly „distributed“ during and after yesterday’s protest in North Mitrovica, Veton Elshani, deputy commander of the Kosovo Police for the region north, said late last night in a statement for KoSSev.

This protest was held on the Mitrovica promenade against the regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo, which essentially banned the use of the Serbian dinar on Kosovo territory.

 

After the protest ended, the Kosovo police assessed that it passed peacefully and that „there were no incidents“.

He states that the procedure is ongoing, that they are in contact with the Prosecutor’s Office, and that the next steps will be known on Tuesday.

„A new organization was formed“

Pristina-based portals also shared the news about the alleged distribution of flyers on the streets of North Mitrovica.

One such media outlet is Koha, which reported that the author of the flyer is a „new organization“, and that the „distribution“ of the flyers was confirmed by the head of the North Mitrovica MA, Nedžad Ugljanin.

„Information from the field reveals that a new organization ‘National Defense’ was formed tonight and they were handing out leaflets to respond with cocktails, rocks and other means against the police and the municipal administration,“ Ugljanin told KTV.

Where are the flyers?

While the Kosovo Police claim that they found the flyers in the afternoon, and Srpska Lista and the president of the North Mitrovica MA say that they appeared on the streets in the evening, the KoSSev portal journalists did not manage to come into possession of a single flier last night.

Our team tried to find them on the streets, and in building entrances, on several occasions last night, but they found none in the areas they visited.

In some Telegram groups, it was alleged that the flyers were reportedly placed in some mailboxes in North Mitrovica, but also that they were even distributed in other municipalities.
