The third edition of PIRIT FEST, an alternative music festival that brings together local and international heavy-sound artists, took place on November 28–29, reaffirming its place as a key fixture of the local music scene. Each year, the festival strengthens its reputation as a platform that nurtures and promotes contemporary strands of alternative rock and metal, building a tradition of gathering audiences eager for raw and authentic sound.
Day One: Young Bands and Fierce New Energy
The opening night spotlighted emerging performers whose diverse styles reflect the breadth of today’s alternative scene.
The festival kicked off with Znam, a young band from North Mitrovica formed during the last winter. Their music—shaped, as they say, by cold days, endless coffees, and the desire to create sonic “chaos”—is marked by intentionally dragging rhythms and a distinctive, unpolished edge.
From Skopje, North Macedonia, came the shoegaze band Perseida, whose thick, melancholic sound—layered guitars, soft vocals, and pulsating beats—pulled the crowd into an atmosphere suspended between dream and reality. Their mission to turn pain into beauty and distortion into harmony resonated deeply with the Mitrovica audience.
Another Skopje-based act, the four-piece Golemata Voda, founded in 2024, delivered a set steeped in nostalgia and chaos, channeling everything they associate with their city into loud vocals, hypnotic riffs, and emotionally charged rhythms.
Due to technical issues preventing Niš-based band Manitu from performing, they were replaced by Mitrovica’s punk outfit Škart, who closed the evening with a fast, gritty set featuring tracks from their 2023 album Mister System. The band also premiered new material expected to be released next year.

Day Two: Experience, Energy, and an Uncompromising Sound
The second night opened with Jimi Triple B’s 666 Blues Band, formed in 2009. Though rooted in blues and rock, the band boldly weaves in elements of reggae, dub, acid rock, punk, and funk. Renowned for long, loud, atmospheric performances, they delivered exactly that on the PIRIT FEST stage.
Belgrade’s Sabirni Centar, which sprang from a spontaneous jam session in 2011, performed an original repertoire they have been developing intensively since 2023. Their rock expression is driven by lyrics inspired by everyday experiences and an earnest devotion to music.
Kragujevac’s experimental stoner rock/metal band Zyrion followed with a set blending heavy desert-rock tones and Balkan ethno motifs. The band is best known for their singles Falling and Vreme, as well as their conceptual EP Journey To The Pyramid Of The Sun.
The night came to an energetic close with Liptards, a rock band currently based in Thessaloniki. Formed in 2018, they have released the album Bowery Smile, several singles, and the 2025 EP D.O.G.. At PIRIT FEST, they delivered a powerful mix of driving rock’n’roll riffs and commanding vocals, reaffirming their reputation as a band that ignites any stage they step onto.
A Growing Tradition
The third PIRIT FEST once again demonstrated that Mitrovica’s alternative scene is vibrant, diverse, and creatively charged. Organizers have already announced ambitions to make next year’s edition even larger and richer in content, inviting citizens to come, discover new sounds, and support emerging bands.
This year’s sponsors included Mitrovica Rock School—the festival’s host venue—along with PKC Akvarijus, Cuba Caffe, Gradska Kafana “Princip”, Baybees Studio, Motel & Restaurant Kruna, Frizerski Salon Cvetković, Gard Vuk, Grumf Fast Food, Piksel Printing, and Be Bop Café.
