Serbian Journalist Associations and AGK Condemn Targeting of Radio Goraževac

The Journalists’ Association of Serbia (UNS) and its Kosovo branch, the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS), and the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) have strongly condemned what they describe as the targeting of the editorial team of Radio Goraževac by the recently established portal Srpski Glas.

Srpski Glas published an article yesterday announcing a series of reports aimed at highlighting media outlets that, in its view, portray Kosovo as an independent state. The portal asserted that such media „advocate for the independence of ‘Kosovo,’ regardless of their justifications.“

The article specifically named Radio Goraževac, the only Serbian-language media outlet in Metohija, accusing it of using terms like „President of Kosovo,“ „Kosovo President,“ and „Kosovo Prime Minister,“ which, according to Srpski Glas, grant legitimacy to „Albanian separatists“ and a „false state.“

The portal further claimed that, should Serbia become a „lawful state,“ media outlets allegedly violating the Serbian Constitution should be held accountable, and their editors prosecuted. It called for a boycott of Radio Goraževac, labeling its reporting as a „betrayal of the country and the people.“

Srpski Glas: A Dubious Media Outlet

Investigations into Srpski Glas reveal that it was established this year, with its first article published this month. It has released only 12 articles so far, including a March 22 piece calling for a boycott of the media outlet Nova.rs.

The website lacks an accessible „About Us“ section, and its social media links redirect to „tagDiv,“ a platform based in Romania.

Additionally, the site’s temperature measurement tool displays London as the default location, and an icon reading „UK London News“ appears when scrolling.

Serbian media associations have also pointed out that Srpski Glas is not registered as a media outlet with the Serbian Business Registers Agency (APR). The domain was purchased via the company Superhosting d.o.o. on January 7, 2025.

Editor-in-Chief of Radio Goraževac Speaks Out

Darko Dimitrijević, the editor-in-chief of Radio Goraževac, described the Srpski Glas article as not just an attempt at defamation but a „serious security threat“ to his team.

„Such targeting is potentially dangerous for all of our journalists. Radio Goraževac has always strived to be professional, objective, and in full compliance with journalistic ethical codes. The terms we use are standard in professional reporting and do not reflect any political stance or bias,“ Dimitrijević stated for UNS.

He also expressed concerns about the rapid spread of such content on social media and announced plans to report the case to relevant authorities, including the High-Tech Crime Department in Belgrade.

„We will take this issue to all competent institutions, media freedom organizations, and journalist associations to uncover who is behind this portal and ensure such attacks do not continue,“ he emphasized.

Journalist Associations Call for an End to Targeting

UNS was the first organization to condemn Srpski Glas’s statements, urging an immediate halt to what it called a targeted campaign against Radio Goraževac.

The association voiced particular concern over the nature of Srpski Glas’s creation, describing it as another „project aimed at intimidating and discrediting professional journalists,“ similar to past cases involving websites like Prismotra and Istraga.

UNS highlighted that the terminology used by Radio Goraževac is consistent with current laws, warning that media outlets using alternative expressions risk accusations of „violating the constitutional order“ and potential loss of their operating licenses.

„This form of targeting endangers journalists and media professionals. Such actions are unacceptable,“ UNS stated.

NUNS and ANEM Demand Investigation into Srpski Glas

The Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) and the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) also strongly condemned the Srpski Glas article, particularly its targeting of Radio Goraževac.

„Radio Goraževac is a local and independent media outlet that has provided professional and responsible journalism to the community for over two decades in an extremely complex and sensitive environment. This is an explicit call for a witch hunt, which directly endangers the safety of journalists and seriously undermines fundamental rights to freedom of expression and media independence,“ the associations stated.

They emphasized that using terms such as „Kosovo President“ or „Kosovo Government“ is standard in both Serbian media and international reports.

„Journalists have the right and professional obligation to accurately and precisely name institutions and figures they report on, free from political pressure or fear of repercussions,“ NUNS stressed.

The associations called for an investigation into Srpski Glas, urging authorities to uncover its background and ensure the protection of journalists from politically motivated attacks. They also condemned the portal’s announcement of further publications in the same style.

„We strongly denounce the article published on Srpski Glas, which signals an upcoming series of reports aiming to publicly label media outlets and journalists as ‘traitors’ and ‘collaborators with separatists’ merely for reporting on the political and institutional reality of Kosovo,“ the journalist groups declared.

Kosovo Journalists’ Association Condemns Targeting of Radio Goraževac

The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) has condemned what it described as the targeting of Radio Goraževac by the portal Srpski Glas.

„AGK has received with concern the information about a defamatory campaign against the Serbian-language radio station Radio Gorazdevac, based in the municipality of Pec,“ the association stated.

They emphasized that such a campaign threatens the physical safety of the journalists working for this media outlet.

The association further stressed that: „Journalists must be allowed to do their work freely and without fear.“
