Out of a total of 35,087 applications approved by the Kosovo Central Election Commission to vote outside Kosovo, 4,337 applications arrived from Serbia. According to the number of applications, voters from central Serbia took third place, after voters from Germany and Switzerland – a CEC document sent to KoSSev reads.
The CEC said late last week that more than 42,600 applications to vote outside Kosovo had been received. In the 2017 extraordinary elections, on the other hand, more than 20,000 applications arrived and over 15,000 were approved.
The largest number of applications arrived from Germany (11,449), followed by Switzerland (11,449) and Central Serbia (4,337). Compared to the previous elections in 2017, almost twice as many voters in Serbia were approved.
According to the CEC spokesperson, Valmir Elezi, the majority of applications were rejected because, apart from the registration form, no valid documentation was sent to prove that the person who had registered to vote fulfilled the legal requirements.
„A total of 32 rejected applicants were under the age of 18, 2,338 applicants who applied with valid identification documents did not submit documents proving that they meet one of the legal criteria to be included in the Kosovo electoral roll, while 2,856 applicants were rejected because they only submitted the registration form and did not prove their identity and one of the legal conditions to be included in the list of voters outside of Kosovo,“ Elezi told the Pristina-based Gazeta Express.
Voting for registered and approved voters living outside of Kosovo started today.
