The renowned Kosovo television channel Kanal 10 broadcasted live this evening from the main promenade on the northern side of the city, along the Ibar River, for their show „Politiko.“
The lively discussion featured four Albanian guests and host Kushtim Sadiku, focusing on the situation in Northern Kosovo, the recent actions of the Kosovo Police, and the potential opening of the Ibar Bridge. The debate resonated against the backdrop of children’s laughter at the end of the main Mitrovica promenade.
Sadiku had announced his return from the summer season with a series of social media posts, heralding the special live program from North Mitrovica and teasing nine guests with victory emojis.
The special program, which is still ongoing, includes prominent figures such as former South Mitrovica mayor and current senior official from Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination) Agim Bahtiri, political commentator Blerim Gashi, former Kosovo Minister Sadri Ferati, and analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu.
In addition to the debate, there were several interviews conducted on the Mitrovica promenade, where Kanal 10 had set up its logo.
Outside the central debate, Kanal 10’s director, Fidan Rama, made an appearance, announcing the opening of the channel’s new office in the North and asserting that „Kanal 10 will be the filter of truth even in North Mitrovica.“
The program also featured an interview with the Deputy Commander of the Kosovo Police for the North, Veton Elshani. From this interview, Kanal 10 emphasized that the situation in Northern Kosovo is currently calm and problem-free. When asked whether there had been a collapse of Radoičić’s group, Elshani replied that there were no such issues.
Throughout the broadcast, Kanal 10’s promotional messages and video clips stressed that the situation in North Mitrovica was stable. The guests agreed that „breathing freely in the North“ was now possible and that criminal groups no longer existed. They stated that „the opening of the bridge will unite, not divide,“ and declared that „all conditions are met for the bridge to open.“
However, there was a minor error during the promotion of the special program. In the heat of the debate between Bahtiri and Ferati, the “host studio” mistakenly labeled the location of the debate as „Car Lazarus Square,“ instead of the actual square where the broadcast was taking place.
The program is ongoing and has entered its fourth hour.
Kosovo’s elections are scheduled for February 9, 2025.
