Ivan Zaporožac has been named the new president of the Provisional Authority of the Municipality of Kosovska Mitrovica.
Zaporožac was appointed to this position at the 85th session of the Government of Serbia held on Friday, October 20.
Ivan Zaporožac, a Physical Education teacher by trade, also served as Headmaster of the „Branko Radičević“ Primary School, in addition to his regular teaching duties. He was also a Srpska Lista councilor in the municipality of North Mitrovica, until the withdrawal of Serbs from the north from the Kosovo institutions. Currently, he also serves as the head of the School Administration for Kosovo and Metohija.
On the same day, the previous head of this PA, Aleksandar Spirić, was dismissed from that position.
As noted in the decision, Spirić was dismissed at his personal request.
Both decisions were signed by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić on Friday.
Although the decision to dismiss Spirić was made only three days ago, for months now, the „disappearance“ of Aleksandar Spirić from public and political life in North Mitrovica had caught residents’ attention.
Since August 28, when we received information that Spirić was allegedly replaced, we have not been able to get in touch with him, nor have we been able to get an answer from Srpska Lista as to what exactly happened in the case of this official.
Some personnel changes were previously also made in the Provisional Municipal Bodies in Kosovo at the government session held he on October 12.
In Lipljan, Dejan Vasić was dismissed from the position of member in that local self-government, and Milica Jovanović was appointed in his place.
One member of the PA in Kosovo Polje was also changed. Zvonko Ničić was dismissed, and Marina Tasić was appointed in his stead.
In Štimlje, Vladimir Zdravković was dismissed as a member of the Provisional Authority, and Predrag Ristić was appointed.
