The French Embassy in Pristina has issued a strong statement following the damage to the vehicle of Nevenka Medić, director of the media outlet KoSSev, in North Mitrovica.

“We are sorry that the vehicle of KoSSev director Nevenka Medić has been damaged, and we hope the circumstances surrounding this incident will be clarified. On this occasion, we reiterate our commitment to the freedom of the press and independent media like KoSSev,” read the embassy’s statement.

The vehicle, a Citroën with Serbian license plates from Kraljevo, was parked near Medić’s residence on King Peter Street in North Mitrovica. The car was found with damage in three places, believed to be caused by a flammable substance. Medić reported the incident to the Kosovo Police, who have since conducted a forensic investigation and taken her statement.

This is not the first time Medić has faced such an attack. In 2015, her car was completely destroyed by fire in the same area. That incident, like this one, remains unresolved, with no suspects charged to date.
