General Milan Mojsilovic will be appointed the new Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces. Ljubisa Dikovic is retiring and will be awarded the Order of the Karadjordje star, the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic confirmed. The decision was announced last night following a meeting with the Serbian Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin and military leadership. The President and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces also issued, as he himself stated, several orders and decisions on the appointment and dismissal of military personnel.
“I accepted the Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Ljubisa Dikovic’s request to retire and I want to thank General Dikovic on his honorable, devoted and the dedicated attitude he displayed, as well as his love for the country of Serbia,“ said Vucic.
Vucic also confirmed that Dikovic was decorated: „This is the highest decoration that any member of the Serbian Armed Forces has received – the Order of the Karadjordje star.“
„Milan Mojsilovic was immediately promoted to the post of Lieutenant General Major General and he will be appointed the new Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces,“ Vucic also said.
Milan Mojsilovic was born on August 3rd, 1967 in North Mitrovica. He is married and has a son.
Mojsilovic’s active military service ended in 2017, the Belgrade-based media reported.
According to his biography on the website of the Ministry of Defense, by the decision of the Government of Serbia, he was appointed assistant defence minister in charge of defence policy in June.
From 2013 to 2017, he was the head of Serbia’s military mission with NATO in Brussels.
Mojsilovic is a graduate of the Military Academy, the Command Staff School and the National Defence School in Belgrade. He completed a course at the European College for Security Studies.
He held the post of operations chief in the Army of Serbia Operational Forces Command, deputy commander of the General Staff Joint Operations Command and commander of the Land Forces.
Mojsilovic also served as the chairman of the Multinational Advisory Group (MAG) in the Center for Security Cooperation RACVIAC.
During Mojsilovic’s chairmanship Kosovo was invited to participate in this organization “on a permanent basis, at all levels, under equal conditions, in all activities and meetings of RACVIAC/MAG.”
