„As you can see, another base expansion!“ – Aleksandar Arsenijevic, the leader of the „Srpski Opstanak“ civic initiative, said in a video he recorded yesterday of the ongoing works on the expansion of the so-called Bistrica checkpoint of the Kosovo Police.
Arsenijevic has been regularly visiting checkpoints in the north where the Kosovo police have been stationed for months now. This Friday, he filmed the ongoing construction on the Bistrica checkpoint.
He claims that this checkpoint is now being turned into a new base. Instead of reducing the number of special units of the Kosovo Police in the area, their visible presence is actually on the rise, Arsenijevic said.
Speaking of what is considered by much of the public to be illegal expropriation of land, despite the repeated denials of the Kosovo authorities, and the construction of special bases of the Kosovo police last year, Arsenijevic now pointed to new alleged violations of Kosovo law.
„This time, this government and the Kosovo Police are breaking the Law on Water, by digging gravel and sand from the Bistrica and Ibar riverbeds. I will support these claims with a video and submit a report to the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning against the Kosovo Police,“ revealed Arsenijevic.
The recent works on the reinforcement of the special unit checkpoint are visible on the Bistrica bridge. The checkpoint was installed at the site at the beginning of this year.
