The Government of Serbia will send a letter on Thursday to the KFOR commander requesting the return of part of the Serbian security personnel to Kosovo, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, confirmed today. The President revealed that he believes peace will be preserved, once again calling on Serbs not to put KFOR and EULEX in jeopardy in any way and give them ammunition to present Serbs as the culprits.
„What happened yesterday and what we got, without any meandering, without any lies in the most serious and most difficult situation so far, shows that a lot has changed in Serbia,“ said Vucic, summarizing last night’s findings of the National Security Council, after meeting with the Petrovic family from Velika Hoca in Belgrade today.
He claims that the Serbian army has never been better equipped, nor has it ever had more manpower.
The President revealed that he wept when he set his eyes on the army yesterday:
„It has nothing to do with Kosovo, I was simply overjoyed when I saw that kind of unity, commitment, and desire to complete every task that the state leadership set before them.“
Addressing Borrell’s statement from today and yesterday’s message from the German FM, Annalena Baerbock, Vucic says that it is important to analyze their statements. He added that the reason „why all this is happening“ is not only related to the arrest of the former Serbian policeman, but also to Kurti’s claims that the formation of the ASM is a “foolish fancy”.
„This is not happening just because Dejan Pantic was arrested for no reason and because he doesn’t have access to medicine and the lawyer doesn’t know where he is. No one knows where he was detained, and no one knows the reason why he was detained. Some sort of hearing via video link was supposed to start this morning. It hasn’t started.“
At the same time, Vučić accused international representatives of what he called a hypocritical attitude towards Serbs.
„Such hypocrisy! The day Mrs. Baerbock tells you that someone decreased the tension by postponing the elections! Well, on that day – the night before, you invaded with special forces and wanted to occupy the MEC. That’s why you detained Dejan Pantic. Well, you didn’t reach that decision in five minutes, did you?! So, you knew that there would be no elections, but you wanted to provoke the Serbs, you wanted to attack the Serbs and forcibly occupy offices in Mitrovica, Leposavic, and Zubin Potok! Is that logical to you?! You supposedly want to postpone the elections, but you deploy special forces to occupy it! Why? Where does it say that you have the right to enter the North of Kosovo with firearms?! What act says so?! Not a single one.“
In his words, Baerbock responded on behalf of the KFOR commander who still hasn’t received the request from Serbia.
He announced that the Serbian government will actually send the request on Thursday, after a government session.
„I will present five important documents to them, but please tell me, which document do you want us to respect?! Please tell me, forget about all four, tell me which one you want us to respect. Here is a buffet table, just choose, do you want the Kumanovo Agreement?! Do you want the UN Charter?! Resolution 1244?! The Brussels Agreement?! Do you want the Washington Agreement?! Tell us what you’ll respect?! Don’t tell us that you won’t honor any of the five agreements. Do you understand that these people do not respect any of the five agreements, neither does Pristina nor those who help them?“
He reminded that many sleepless nights were spent drafting the Brussels Agreement, however:
„But now, the Brussels Agreement is not valid, at least the part that the Albanians will not put into practice, only for Mrs. Analena Baerbock to come forward and say what she said.“
„Well, there is no government in Pristina that will create the ASM. It’s no concern of mine, should there be a government in Belgrade that will let Kosovo into the UN? Are you for real?! And the one who won’t do it will become a dictator, an autocrat, a tyrant who has no idea that this happened, destroys media freedom and who knows what else…“
Commenting on Borrel’s statement, Vucic said he is afraid that it is only a consequence of the attack he underwent when he pointed out the real culprit for the lack of constructiveness and failure of the Brussels talks.
„Yes, we are doing everything, we worked all day yesterday until we received assurances that they will not barge in together to tear down the barricades. We ask once again that the innocent Serbs be released and that they no longer send the Kosovo police, especially heavily armed police. Today we showed all the photos of them with firearms from yesterday, the day before yesterday, and this morning taken by people from Kosovo. They have no right to do that,“ he said.
While claiming that Serbia does not want any kind of conflict, he explained the event that led to strong criticism of the Serbs – the attack on the EULEX team with a shock bomb near the barricade in Rudare, on 10t December at around 21:30h.
„Imagine that – someone threw a shock bomb, it’s a pyrotechnic device, to warn someone about something and not to hurt someone. And because of that, I think Serbia should be bombed, but not only Serbs, but all of Serbia. Well, why? Because when it suits them, the North of Kosovo is part of Serbia, and when it doesn’t suit them, then they say, why are you interfering, the North is not part of Serbia, it is not your territory. And when they need to blame someone, then it’s part of Serbia,“ said Vucic, noting that it is a double standard.
„I believe that we will preserve the peace. We will do everything to make it so. Once again, I call on our people not to put KFOR and EULEX in jeopardy in any way and give them ammunition to portray Serbs as the culprits,“ the President of Serbia concluded.
