The Deputy Chief of Serbia’s Government Office for Kosovo said on Monday that Belgrade was fulfilling its requirements from the Brussels Agreement regarding Kosovo, and described the words of a Pristina official as “untrue”.
Dusan Kozarev added it was Pristina that is moving away from the dialogue and was ready “to talk only to itself.”
“Belgrade has honoured all the obligations stipulated by the First Brussels Agreement, while Pristina and its chief negotiator Avni Arifi use irrational excuses to avoid the dialogue,” Kozarev said in a statement.
Kozarev said Arifi did not tell the truth.
Arifi has recently refused to go to Brussels for a round of technical talks saying the energy issue should top the agenda and not the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM), and that any meeting with Belgrade officials was unnecessary until the earlier agreed matters were resolved.
Brussels’ officials told the Beta news agency last week that both sides should implement all achieved agreements, the CSM included, but added that there were some deals which Belgrade has also failed to enforce.
Kozarev, on Monday, said that despite Pristina’s stand that the dialogue was not useful, Belgrade insisted that it was not just helpful but necessary “because everything else leads us a step backwards to destabilisation and the worsening of the situation on the ground.”
He accused Pristina of adopting an attitude of “one-sidedness and non-cooperation” and urged that an efficient answer is found to such a negotiating strategy to continue the dialogue.
