More than a hundred walnut saplings were stolen from the Dabetic family from the village of Saljinovice near Osojane. The estimated value of the stolen goods is slightly above 1,300 EUR, Radio Gorazdevac reported.

Danijel Dabetic told Radio Gorazdevac that he went to the field around 9 am this morning and noticed that about a hundred walnut tree saplings were missing. The stolen saplings were planted far from the home of the Dabetic family.

Dabetic explained that he received the saplings from the Kosovo Office as part of a project aimed at improving the lives of young people living in this area. After this incident, he said that „the lives of young people who want to work and create something here are becoming harder and harder“.

He stated that he quickly notified the Kosovo Police, which arrived only minutes after receiving the call.

Dabetic said that he has no hope that the perpetrators will be discovered, adding that he reported the case „because of the safety of other trees which remained in some other plantations.“

„This is one more proof that people who live here do not have a safe future,“ he said, emphasizing that „this is a clear message that Serbs living in these areas are not wanted or welcome.“
