„We inform the international community that representatives of Kurti’s illegitimate mayor entered the building where the premises of the Kosovo Office, the Directorate of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, the Kosovo-Mitrovica Administrative District, and the Social Service Department Vucitrn are located once again today, in the Bosniak Mahala settlement, in Kosovska Mitrovica and informed employees that they must leave their workplaces and move out of the building within three days,“ Srpska Lista announced. In the meantime, the adviser to North Mitrovica mayor, Visar Syla, told KoSSev that the reason the municipal inspectors visited the facilities where the Serb institutions are situated was due to alleged „works“ that the municipality is planning.
The party also shared the record of this municipal inspection. The bilingual form – written in poot Serbian, was filled out in the inspector’s handwriting in Albanian, and the name „Igor Simic“ was written between two paragraphs, states the following:
„The record is compiled by the municipal inspector, on August 22nd, 2023, on the occasion of the inspection of the business entity Pension and Insurance Fund, owned by the municipality with the personal number 25********, Oslobodjenja Street, North Mitrovica.
This inspection establishes that the municipal facility used by the foreign office of Serbia does not possess documentation to use that facility. They were informed a few days earlier to prepare to present documentation – an agreement on the permit to use the facility.
The inspection visited this facility and told them to prepare a document which proves their right to use the facility.
Based on the established situation, the inspector ordered that these measures be taken within three days.
In the absence of documents, they are will be ordered to vacate the facility.
In case they fail to do so, the company will take the measures provided by law.
This record is compiled in four copies.“
„At the call of the international community for illegitimate mayors to work from alternative locations, they went a step further and want to seize our premises as well, and in that process, they show their apathy and demonstration of force by not respecting their own laws and rules and delivering the document in the Albanian language,“ Srpska Lista said in a statement.
Also, they asked the international representatives if this is how their call is respected for illegitimate mayors to do only administrative work and not make political decisions against the citizens?
In the meantime, the Kosovo Office reacted, saying that they „will not allow“ Kurti and Atic’s „ultimatum“.
„Kurti, through his forces, is carrying out moves that are a direct threat to peace and stability in these regions, while the international community is quiet and silently observes such moves. While we have been listening to international representatives saying for weeks that illegitimate and fake mayors will not make any executive decisions, every day on the ground we witness the violent and illegal moves of Kurti’s Gauleiter against the Serb people, whose only goal is to expel all Serbs from the north of Kosovo,“ the Office stated.
They added that employees and 120 socially vulnerable families who use the services of the Social Services Department are also at risk.
While confirming today’s visit to Serb institutions, Mayor Erden Atic’s advisor, Visar Syla, said in a statement for KoSSev that due to the: „anticipated works that the municipality will perform in certain municipal facilities, these sites are to be vacated by persons who use the facility without any documents“.
„Municipal officers of the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly also visit facilities owned by the municipality as part of their regular activities. They also have the responsibility to ensure information about the users of municipal property. Regarding the building you asked us about, the municipal officials requested documentation as per which the activity is carried out in it, since the building is owned by the municipality. Official Mr. Igor Simic, who welcomed the municipal officials, pointed out that he does not have any document about the building and that he does not know whose property it is, adding that he is working here because his superiors sent him there,“ said Visar Syla.
He underlined that this municipality is ready to support and provide workspace to any institution that provides services in the „interest of the citizens of Kosovo“.
The municipal inspection of North Mitrovica visited these institutions of the Republic of Serbia four days ago, which are located in the building of the Kosovo-Mitrovica district, in its immediate vicinity, as well as some other facilities where other Serbian structures are located. At the time, as is the case now, they were assisted by the Kosovo Police of the region north.
The deputy commander of the region north, Veton Elshani, confirmed for KoSSev that the police provided support today.
At the time, SL accused Erden Atic, whom they described as a „fake mayor,“ of dispatching inspectors with the police to evict employees in the Serbian system by Monday, „when they will come again.“ Furthermore, they announced a series of new steps by the Kosovo municipal authorities: Health institutions, schools and colleges are next. The Kosovo authorities claim it is the property of the municipality of North Mitrovica, SL warned at the time.
The municipality of North Mitrovica, however, then denied SL’s allegations that it would evict anyone „by next Monday“, or that this was a case of any kind of harassment, but a „routine visit“ by officials to „facilities owned by the municipality“.
