The Kosovo police detained a 24-year-old ethnic Serb A. Ć. at the Jarinje border crossing today due to suspicion that he previously „photographed buildings“ in South Mitrovica „without authorization“. KoSSev unofficially learns from a credible source that A.Ć. is a member of the Serbian gendarmerie.
The detention took place around 9 a.m., when A. Ć, who lives in Kosovo, reached the Jarinje crossing from the direction of Serbia proper.
The deputy commander of the Kosovo Police for the region north, Veton Elshani, said in a statement for KoSSev that when the KP officers were checking A.Ć.’s documents at the crossing, a notification appeared that he was on the „stop list“.
Elshani states that the individual in question was wanted due to suspicions that he had allegedly „photographed“ buildings in South Mitrovica „without authorization“.
He could not specify which building in question A.Ć. allegedly took photos of.
A. Ć. Was then transported to South Mitrovica for interrogation. Elshani said that he expects he will soon be released.
