Kosovo Police deported Nikola Vujović, a member of Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs from Zubin Potok, through the Merdare administrative crossing today around 4 PM, following his arrest at Brnjak on Thursday evening. His deportation was confirmed by his lawyer, Bogdan Lazić, who was present during the handover.
„I accompanied him,“ Lazić told KoSSev.
Kosovo authorities claim that Vujović posed a threat to national security by allegedly working for the security and intelligence structures of another state without prior approval. His Kosovo citizenship has been revoked, all Kosovo-issued documents confiscated, and he is banned from entering Kosovo for five years.
According to Lazić, the deportation was carried out under the justification that Vujović, as a Serbian police officer, did not have authorization from Kosovo to „operate in another country’s security structures“. He criticized the decision as politically motivated and discriminatory, arguing that no law requires such consent.
„He lives here, was born here, has a family here, has never committed a crime or been subject to any proceedings,“ Lazić said, adding that Vujović’s human rights, including the right to family life under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, have been violated.
Vujović is one of four Serbian citizens – including three active officers of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs and one retired officer – who have been detained over the past two days at administrative crossings: Brnjak, Jarinje, and Koncul.
N.V. (26) and M.S. (53) were arrested at Brnjak on Thursday, while M.M. (28) and A.M. (36) were detained today at Jarinje and Končul, respectively.
These events follow the June 7th arrest of Arbnor Spahiu, a former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army and Kosovo Police Special Units, who was detained in Serbia on suspicion of serious crimes related to the Banjska case. His arrest triggered strong reactions in Pristina, and current developments are being viewed as potential retaliation or political pressure in response to his detention.
Attorney Lazić suggested that the actions taken against his client and other Serbian officers may be linked to this broader political context. He confirmed that a legal appeal will be submitted to the Administrative Court.
