Indictment filed against Ranilug municipality official

An indictment for contempt of court has been filed against D.P., an official in the Ranilug municipality, the Kosovo Prosecutor’s Office announced today.

D.P. did not abide by the authorized decisions of the Basic Court in Gnjilane and the Court of Appeals in Pristina from May to July, thus damaging 18 employees of the Runilug municipality. According to the decision of the second instance court, these employees were supposed to continue to work in the education system, however, by not enforcing this decision, the defendant prevented them from exercising their rights which were confirmed by the court’s decisions – the Prosecutor’s Office outlined in a press release.

Other details have not been announced.

Assigned teaching contact hours in violation of the law

The municipality of Ranilug is a municipality with a Serb majority. The Kosovo Audit Office (National Audit Office) dealt with the issue of educators in this municipality in its report for the last year which was published in May.

A part of the report outlined that there are „weaknesses in the management of payroll lists“ and that classes are not divided according to the standardized norms.

„Some of the employees do not have a standardized workload formula“ – it is stated in the report.

The auditor, therefore, concluded: „Assigned teaching contact hours are in violation of the law and the provisions in force.“
