Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said on Sunday that former Kosovo Police officer Nexhat Pireva was arrested early this morning by Serbian authorities at the Bela Zemlja border crossing, before being questioned and released several hours later.
According to the MFA, Pireva — a resident of Kamenica and a member of the Kosovo Police for approximately 14 years — was detained while traveling toward Bujanovac with his wife and children.
He was reportedly held for “around four hours” for questioning and subsequently released, the ministry stated.
The MFA used the incident to level a new series of accusations against Serbia, alleging that Belgrade is “mistreating citizens of the Republic of Kosovo” through such actions.The ministry again urged Kosovo citizens to avoid traveling through Serbian territory.

Arrest Follows Recent High-Profile Release
The incident comes only days after Pristina confirmed the release of Arbnor Spahiu — a former member of a Kosovo special police unit — from Serbian custody.
Spahiu had been held on charges related to the “aggravated murder” case in Banjska in 2023.
