A bomb attack targeted the newly established but not yet opened Kosovo Post Office in Zvecan late last night, an incident Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti described as an act of desperation by those who no longer hold power in northern Kosovo.
The explosion occurred just after midnight near the site, which is undergoing final preparations for opening. According to Kosovo Police, two hand grenades were thrown at the facility—one of which detonated.
The suspects remain unknown, and an anti-terrorism unit is leading the investigation. Authorities have classified the case under „Causing General Danger.“
Kurti strongly condemned the attack, labeling it an act of terrorism aimed at destabilizing the region and obstructing the integration of local citizens into Kosovo’s legal and institutional framework.
“We strongly condemn the terrorist attack on the Kosovo Post Office in Zvecan,” Kurti stated.
“This violent act is an attempt to undermine security and prevent citizens from fully integrating into Kosovo’s system.”
While the perpetrators remain unidentified, Kurti has already pointed fingers at Milan Radoičić, a controversial figure known for his alleged ties to criminal and paramilitary groups.
“It is particularly concerning that individuals with known links to criminal and terrorist groups, such as Milan Radoičić, remain at large, protected by Serbian authorities and used for chauvinistic purposes,” Kurti said, emphasizing that Radoičić still poses a significant threat.
“The fact that this criminal remains free and has not been extradited to our authorities sends a dangerous message, encouraging criminals, terrorists, and extremists to continue their destabilizing activities.”
Despite the attack, Kurti assured that the Kosovo Post Office will continue operating as planned.
“This cowardly grenade attack in the dark is an act of desperation by those who no longer govern northern Kosovo. The Kosovo Post Office will remain as a public institution, we will replace the broken glass, and legal services will continue to be provided to all citizens,” he declared.
Authorities have launched an official investigation, and Kurti reaffirmed that the perpetrators will face justice.
