Students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade, currently engaged in a blockade at their university, expressed their sincere gratitude to their peers at the University of Pristina with temporary headquarters in North Mitrovica. In a statement issued today, the Belgrade students stated, „Your support and solidarity give us strength and motivation to continue our fight for truth and justice.“

Meanwhile, in North Mitrovica, the ninth commemorative gathering of the „15 minutes of silence“ event took place, honoring the 15 victims of the roof collapse, marking the seventh such event organized by students from the university in Mitrovica.

Although the University of Pristina is not in a position to block its faculties, another key message from today’s gathering was, „Regardless of that, we are here with them, we support them. We stand behind them.“

Zoran Ratković, an acting student from the Faculty of Arts, expressed his disappointment over the low attendance at the gatherings in Mitrovica, despite the fact that the student cafeterias remain full. „The cafeterias are full here in Mitrovica, yet barely 50 of us show up. It’s upsetting because people here don’t seem to realize what’s actually happening,“ he said. He urged his peers to reflect on the seriousness of the situation. „If we don’t fight now, we will never make a change. It will only get worse.“

The students from Belgrade expressed their appreciation: „Thank you for the empathy and solidarity you have shown in the past, honoring the victims of the tragedy at the train station in Novi Sad, and supporting protests across Serbia. We want to tell you that you are not alone, and we stand by you! Together, we can persevere in this fight!“

The students from North Mitrovica responded with their own message: „Pump it up!“ as they prepared for the large gathering in Belgrade on Saturday.

In turn, the Novi Sad students in the blockade thanked their peers in North Mitrovica earlier, sending a message of „shared struggle for justice.“ The Faculty of Law in Novi Sad also extended their thanks to the university’s teaching staff.

Future political science students at the Faculty of Political Science in Belgrade echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the unity in their shared fight.

Ahead of the major gathering in the Serbian capital, a delegation of students from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade visited North Mitrovica. They met with their peers from the University of Pristina and symbolically presented them with an invitation to the upcoming event.
