Elezi: Despite being only 15 during the war, Hajrizi holds KLA veteran status; he reached Loznica via migrant smuggling route
Faton Hajrizi has the status of a KLA veteran despite being only 15 years old at the time of the war. It needs to be investigated who granted him this status in the first place. Serbia can now leverage the fact that someone who was 15 years old during the war has veteran status, said Bedri Elezi, a security expert from Kosovo, last night in a show on TV Koha. Elezi also claims that Hajrizi made his way to Loznica through routes allegedly used by Serbian BIA agents for human trafficking, known to international security institutions. He believes that the police officers on the ground and the key figures in the chain were not informed in advance about Hajrizi’s transport.
The Serbian police are still searching for the man suspected of killing one and wounding another border police officer in Loznica. The suspect is an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo Faton Hajrizi – a repeat escapee from prison in Kosovo, who escaped for the 9th time from the facility in Smrekovnica near Vučitrn earlier this month.
This individual was arrested in 2000 for the murder of a Russian soldier when he was only 15 years old. In the meantime, whenever he escaped, he committed several other serious crimes, including wounding police officers in Kosovo.
Kosovo authorities have been searching for him since his last escape from the Smrekovnica prison on July 6, and he has been taunting them almost daily with derogatory and provocative messages on social media, Kosovo media report. Hajrizi boasted that they could never catch him, implying their incompetence. He referred to those who could catch him, who are no longer in power because they are in The Hague, referring to former KLA members.
Status of a KLA veteran despite being only 15 years old during the war
He himself was part of them, holding the status of a KLA veteran despite being practically a child during the war, claims Kosovo security expert Bedri Elezi, citing an alleged statement from a lawyer. He called for an investigation into who granted him this status given his age and believes Serbia will now use his connection to the KLA.
Although pointing out the possibility of a serious crime, namely fraud and abuse, Elezi pointed a finger at Serbia as a „state organized by criminal groups.“
„These are pieces of evidence that cannot be considered arguments in a normal state, but we know that Serbia is a criminal state, a state organized by criminal groups. They will try to use the fact that he was a KLA member. I refer to a public statement from one of the defense attorneys in criminal cases, who said, ‘the client was in my yard playing and was 12 years old.’ I refer to this public statement by an official and believe that the issue of obtaining the status concerns a crime for the individuals who enabled it. I call on the Special Prosecutor’s Office and the Police to investigate how the certificate was obtained.“
Elezi did not address the criteria under which Hajrizi obtained the status of a „KLA veteran,“ whether he received this status as part of a scandal in which tens of thousands of Albanians received financial compensation with falsified KLA status for years, or if the criterion for this status was the murder of a Russian KFOR member.
On the other hand, this security expert says that it is currently in Serbia’s interest „not to arrest Faton Hajrizi“ and that they may have „intentionally not arrested him,“ given Serbia’s capacities, according to Elezi, when it comes to a person who has escaped from prison in Kosovo for the 9th time.
In his words, Serbian authorities did this to have a reason to „harass citizens of Kosovo passing through Serbia.“
„Given Serbia’s capacities, it’s strange how they haven’t arrested him. There is a possibility that they let him escape because it gives them an opportunity for subsequent actions, which have already begun – harassing Kosovo citizens passing through Serbia,“ Elezi alleged.
Hajrizi reached Loznica through human trafficking channels known to BIA and international security institutions, while the police on the ground were not informed by their superiors
During his guest appearance on TV Koha, Elezi made the claim that Hajrizi went to Loznica with a taxi driver using routes that criminal groups use for human trafficking.
This is, he added, an internationally known route for going to EU countries known to Serbian BIA agents.
„According to a report submitted to international security institutions, Serbian authorities say that the taxi driver stated that he drove the suspect from Preševo to the border with Bosnia. This is a human trafficking channel. Syrian refugees and countries at war use this route to go to EU countries. It is an internationally known channel, mostly operated by BIA agents to enrich themselves and relocate to Bosnia, then forming a triangle with Croatia,“ claims Elezi.
According to him, the leaders, as well as the police on the ground, were not aware of the action that was supposed to be carried out for Hajrizi.
„This action was carried out without the knowledge of the bosses dealing with this business, and the taxi was pulled over on the route used as a channel and became suspicious because they were not informed. In this specific case, it was pulled over by two Serbian officers to verify whether he had anything to do with their established business, and he refused to identify himself,“ said Elezi.
Killed a police officer in a similar way to the Russian soldier in 2000
This security expert presents one version of how the police officer was killed.
He claims that he first struck him, then took his revolver.
„He managed to strike one of the police officers, take his revolver, fire nine shots, and leave the scene, threatening the others with the gun. His companion also managed to escape, but the Bosnian authorities caught him.“
He believes this cannot be considered a terrorist act.
„It is a criminal act, but it has nothing to do with Serbia’s claims of terrorism,“ he added.
