Councilors of the North Mitrovica municipal assembly approved the initiative group’s request for the for the recall of the mayor to collect signatures in the Sports Hall in North Mitrovica, it was confirmed for KoSSev.
„After consulting with the councilors and reviewing the request of the initiative group to collect signatures for the recall of the mayor of the municipality of North Mitrovica, the Municipal Assembly, as per the Administrative Instruction, authorized this group to use the facility that they mentioned in the request – the Sports Hall, to collect signatures for the recall the mayor,“ specified the chairman of this MA, Nedžad Ugljanin.
Ugljanin could not confirm when the initiative group will start with the collection, as they are not obliged to inform him about it.
He reminded that the initiative group received part of the documentation on December 22, that is, the list of voters in the municipality of North Mitrovica, and that the deadline started running from that moment, adding that the group did not request authorization for the use of a space where they will collect signatures until last Friday.
„I informed them even earlier that they also need authorization for the place of signature collection. We would have considered their request on Friday, but they sent it by email in the afternoon, so it was postponed until the next working day. Now they have the necessary documentation, but they should submit the petition to me by January 22, and they have the option of another 15 days to extend the deadline if they need more time.“
Ugljanin informed the initiative group that their request had been accepted via email.
At the same time, he will prepare an authorization for them in printed form, and the same authorization, he specified, must be delivered to the Kosovo Police by the MA.
Although the exact location of where the signature collection will take place remains unknown, as well as by what date it should be submitted, there is still no information on when the collection of signatures will begin.
KoSSev tried to obtain this information from the initiative group itself, that is, two of its members – Sanja Lazarević and Milan Milosavljević. However, no information was forthcoming at the time of publication.
