The Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs published last night data on the number of incidents that took place this week in the north of Kosovo. Following the example set by the Kosovo PM, they named this table the „Record of Attacks by the Fascist Militia“. By this, they are referring to the protesters in front of the municipalities in the north, and the figures, as they claim, show that the protests were not civil.
Nine days have passed since the latest crisis in the north of Kosovo broke out after special units of the Kosovo Police forcibly entered municipal buildings in Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok last Friday.
Serbs protested the move in front of these buildings on Monday. In Zvecan, however, the protesters and members of KFOR clashed. Many were wounded on both sides.
Since that day, Pristina has been a target of harsh criticism, after it ignored calls from several international officials not to forcibly enter these municipalities.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has declared since day one that their decision was completely legitimate and in accordance with the law, noting that they are dealing with „criminal gangs orchestrated by Belgrade“.
He repeatedly described the protesters as a „mob“ and a „fascist militia“.
Kurti even revealed that he is far more worried about the „fascist militia“ in the North than international sanctions.
„We are not handing over our democratic republic to this fascist mob,“ Kurti underlined this week at a forum in Bratislava.
The term „fascist militia“ was also used last night by the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs, which claims that the protests in the north were not civil protests.
On Friday night, the ministry published the „record of fascist militia attacks“:
„The situation so far – 21 attacks on the media/journalists, 6 injured Kosovo Police officers, 30 injured KFOR soldiers/3 with firearms, 2 citizens brutally beaten, 2 completely torched Kosovo Police cars, 7 damaged Kosovo Police vehicles.“
These figures, says the Kosovo MIA, „show that the protests were neither peaceful nor civil“.
„The chaos directed by the criminal groups and orchestrated by Belgrade resulted in injuries, material damage and an attempt to ban free expression and media reporting,“ they added.
„Inciting inter-ethnic conflicts by criminal individuals was their second goal, which will fail,“ the MIA concluded.
