„That is false news,“ the Kosovo police of the region north told KoSSev last night, thus denying the Belgrade-based tabloid Informer reports that „more than 250 heavily armed policemen“ were headed towards North Mitrovica, but also Pristina-based Kallxo’s claims that „Serbs blocked the police“ near Lake Gazivode. The KP Directorate in Pristina then reacted, declaring that two civilian vehicles prevented the border police in its attempt to pull over a truck. The Kosovo Police in the north told KoSSev, however, that there were no roadblocks last night. The police did not provide further details.
Two media outlets, one in Belgrade and the other in Pristina, reported late last night, citing their findings, about „extraordinary“ events, i.e. „incidents“ in the north of Kosovo.
Belgrade-based tabloid Informer published a news piece last night entitled: „DRAMA IN THE NORTH OF KIM – MORE THAN 250 HEAVILY ARMED KOSOVO POLICE OFFICERS HEADED TOWARD NORTH MITROVICA!“
Referring to its findings, this media outlet reports that members of the mobile border unit of the Kosovo Police allegedly received an order to gather at 10 pm last night at the police station of the border unit in North Mitrovica, while „wearing bulletproof vests and other protective equipment“.
According to Informer, more than 250 Kosovo police officers were headed towards North Mitrovica, where they were set to receive further instructions.
Citing „well-informed sources“, Informer further states that the regular shift of the KP border unit starts at 8 pm, while members are usually deployed at the alternative „Bube“ crossing in Zubin Potok, claiming that their shift was allegedly postponed until after 10 pm – also by order of the border unit of the police in Luzane.
Meanwhile, Kallxo reported that „Serbs blocked the police in Zubin Potok“.
This media outlet writes that a group of Serbs reportedly blocked a Kosovo Police patrol, which was headed from the direction of Brnjak towards Zubin Potok.
Kallxo specified that the citizens allegedly parked vehicles without license plates on the street near Lake Gazivoda, at the entrance to the first tunnel.
Citing its sources, Kallxo writes that police units were dispatched from the station in Zubin Potok to remove the blockade.
Describing the event as an „incident“, this portal recalls that a few days ago, the vice president of Srpska Lista, Milan Radoicic, „escaped from the Brnjak border crossing, after which the commander of the crossing was suspended.“
The police of the region north, however, soon denied the allegations of both Informer and Kallxo for KoSSev.
„That is false news, the police have no such information,“ the KP north told KoSSev.
While they completely refuted the news that „heavily armed policemen“ were dispatched to the north, when addressing Kallxo’s allegations that a group of citizens blocked the road, KP North says that the patrols from Zubin Potok „met“ with the border police patrol. They underline that it was not „anything unusual“, and that there was no blockade.
„There were no roadblocks or jams on the roads. Two vehicles were seen traveling in front of the border police, but there were no blockades, or anything unusual,“ they concluded.
At the same time, they raised the question of what was the motive for „spreading false media information“.

In the meantime, the KP directorate in Pristina indirectly confirmed Kallxo’s allegations that police patrols were road-blocked.
According to the police, near the Gazivode lake, the border police officers noticed a truck suspected of transporting smuggled goods. While trying to pull the truck over, they were allegedly prevented from doing so by two civilian vehicles without license plates.
„Two civilian vehicles obstructed police officers by blocking the road, preventing them from pulling over a truck suspected of carrying smuggled goods,“ the Kosovo Police said in a statement late last night.
They added that they informed other police units about this case „who assisted border officers in investigating and looking for suspects and vehicles.“ They did not provide any additional details.
KoSSev once again contacted the police of the region north, who informed us that they had seen Pristina’s statement.
They once again stressed that the allegations about the road blockade were incorrect, and that „there were no road blockades or jams“ yesterday.
