The latest news: The President of Football Federation of Kosovo, Agim Ademi, has just confirmed to KoSSev that they received FIFA’s email that encourages them to withdraw the requests made to the Kosovo Security Institutions so that the match can take place on the 5th October. However, he immediately emphasized: „Nevertheless, the note is not mandatory. The championship of another state cannot be played in another country, this is against UEFA and FIFA rules, we have just informed FIFA about the intention of playing the game and our determination not to allow them, treating them as illegal“.
26.09, Thursday: President of the Football Federation of Kosovo: We did not receive any emails from FIFA
„We have not received any emails from FIFA, and in any case, the request we have forwarded to the ministry and police cannot be withdrawn,“ the President of Football Federation of Kosovo, Agim Ademi told KoSSev. Ademi denied media allegations that FIFA sent an email to the FFK, asking them to withdraw requests submitted to Kosovo security institutions, so that the Serbian Cup match between Trepca and Red Star could take place in Kosovo on October 5. The news was initially exclusively published by the newly established ‘Kosovo Online’ portal.
„We didn’t receive anything, we just issued a request that the match could not be played in the territory of Kosovo, because it is a completely different championship, Serbia knows that too. We have informed UEFA and FIFA that the match will not be played in the territory of Kosovo,” the FFK president underlined.
Ademi pointed out that even if they receive such a request from FIFA, the request they forwarded to the Kosovo institutions „cannot be withdrawn“.
„Now it is in the hands of the state, we have also submitted a request to the Kosovo ministry and police that the match should not take place,“ Ademi concluded.
The contents of FIFA’s alleged letter to Ademi
„The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) informed the President of the Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK), Agim Ademi, on September 20th, that the FFK should withdraw the requests submitted to the Kosovo security institutions, so that the Serbian Cup match between Trepca and Red Star could take place on October 5th,“ the Kosovo Online portal reported yesterday, citing its sources in Zurich.
The same portal also published a photo of an alleged email FIFA sent to the FFK.
“In particular, the said email states under point 107 that ‘The fact that certain clubs in Northern Kosovo currently play under the auspices of the FSS does not undermine FFK’s general organizational authority, which has been evidenced by FFK’s membership application.’ Taking the above-mentioned points into consideration and in the interest of football, we would like to encourage the FFK to withdraw the requests made to the Kosovo Security Institutions so that the match can take place on the 5th of October,” reads the document published by this portal.
Ademi said he was already informed that this news appeared in the media, confirming the accuracy of the FFK address written in the published letter. He added it is the central email address of the FFK.
„If this email had arrived, it would have been on my desk. I will definitely check the mail again tomorrow, but so far it has not arrived,“ he added.
He also stressed that the FFK „never received a decision from FIFA or UEFA that the match could be played because UEFA and FIFA statutes stipulate which matches can be played in which country“.
In addition, he pointed out that the Football Federation of Kosovo has previously „only informed FIFA and UEFA that this match cannot be played“ and that it is not within the jurisdiction of FIFA but „the state in whose territory the match takes place“.
When asked if the contents of the published email seem credible to him, Ademi only confirmed that they contacted FIFA „at the time“, informing the organization of their intentions not to allow the match to take place.
Radio Kontakt Plus: Red Star vs. Trepca in Belgrade on October 9th
The draw for the 16th edition of the Serbian Cup determined that FC Red Star will play against FC Trepca from North Mitrovica in Zvecan on October 5th.
The President of the Football Federation of Kosovo, Agim Ademi also said that „the Serbian Football Association has requested that the match with Red Star takes place in Kosovo on October 5“.
Shortly after, the Football Federation of Kosovo announced that they had forwarded a request to Kosovo police to prevent the Red Star team from entering Kosovo.
However, as Radio Kontakt Plus reported, citing sources from FC Trepca’s management, „due to the overall situation“, the match between Trepca from North Mitrovica and Red Star will take place in Belgrade on October 9th.
