The head of Serbia’s Government Office for Kosovo Marko Djuric said on Thursday the Serbs should “monolithic and united” take part in Kosovo’s elections, accusing Serbia’s opposition of trying to split Kosovo Serbs’ votes, the Beta news agency reported.
Djuric told the state RTS TV that “we can have thousand I one political difference in other parts of the country (Serbia still considers Kosovo as a part of its territory), but we must be monolithic, united and unanimous in an appearance before the Albanians.”
“The group gathered around (Dragan) Djilas, (Vuk) Jeremic and (Boris) Tadic (Serbia’s opposition leaders) would like to win some Serb List (Kosovo Serb party supported by Belgrade) votes,” Djuric said, adding the situation for the Serbs in Kosovo was very difficult.
The opposition Alliance for Serbia (SzS) registered its branch in Kosovo.
Commenting on NATO Quint countries’ statement regarding Belgrade – Pristina relations, he said it wasn’t a surprise, but that Serbia would not keep silent about that “artificial levelling” of Belgrade and Pristina.
Djuric said that a part of the international community acted friendly to some and hostile to others.
“I am convinced they (the Kosovo Serbs) won’t fall for pressures and provocations whether they come directly from abroad or from those who only bear Serbian names,” he added.
