Although Telekom Srbija presented the best offer to Telekom Albania – offering €60 million – it is not welcome in Albania, both Kosovan and Albanian media reported.
The Albanian Top Channel learned that Telekom Srbija offered €60 million, which is considered the best offer, and that the offer is currently under consideration, Serbian B92 reported yesterday.
Official sources, cited by Koha Ditore suggest that the management of the Serbian company met with representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications in Albania. During this meeting, the leaders of Telekom Srbija became aware that they were not welcome to become part of the mobile phone market in Albania, although investments from Serbia are important for Albania.
„Telekom Srbija is not welcome in Albania. While the companies will be the ones to decide, the participation of Telekom Srbija in the mobile phone market could cause reactions that could negatively affect the company itself. We are ready to expect Serbian investments in the country, but we prefer investors with a different profile in this sector,“ said a source from the Ministry of Transport, Koha reported.
Apart from Telekom Srbija, Albanian TV reported two more interested companies from Bulgaria, Vivacom – owned by Spas Rusev and Globul Telekom, which already made an offer.
Telekom Albania is the second largest operator in Albania. It is owned by Deutsche Telekom.
