A new political party of Kosovo Serbs, the Kosovo Alliance (Kosovski savez), has been officially formed, with Goran Marinković from Dobrotin, Lipjan/Lipljan municipality, appointed as its president, and Žarko Ristić named as the coordinator and ideological founder.
The party has already announced its intention to participate in the upcoming local elections scheduled for October 12.
The Kosovo Alliance held its first Executive Board session today, during which the party leadership agreed on further strategic directions.
“The foundations have been laid for participation in the upcoming local elections, and quite likely also in repeat parliamentary elections for the Kosovo Assembly,” the party stated.
Speaking at the session, the party president Goran Marinković emphasized that Serbs living and working in Kosovo are “being forced by the regime in Belgrade to vote for the Srpska Lista (Serb List),” even though, he claimed, “it is absolutely clear that Srpska Lista works against the interests of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.”
Marinković said that the party was officially registered only after several attempts, and alleged that “Srpska Lista obstructed the process.”
“Personally, I find it incomprehensible that our registration was being blocked over minor technicalities, only for it to become clear that Srpska Lista was behind these obstructions—it was the only entity that voted against our registration,” he stated.
He stressed that the Kosovo Alliance aims to be a constructive political force advocating for the survival of the Serbian people and the normalization of life in Kosovo and Metohija.
“The existing actors have failed to achieve this. The Serbian people are still being oppressed, threatened, and subjected to terror. There is no one to protect or defend us. The expulsion of Serbs from Kosovo institutions and the police was a grave mistake made by Aleksandar Vučić, and we are clearly paying the price for it now. In the upcoming local elections in October, the Kosovo Alliance will seek to become the pillar of unity for all Serbs and their movements who genuinely wish to rally around the idea of preserving life and fostering multiethnic cooperation,” Marinković said.
Today’s Executive Board session was attended by members from Zubin Potok, Zvečan, Gračanica, Štrpce/Shterpcë, Pasjane, and Lipjan/Lipljan.
Among those present was Žarko Ristić, a member of the Serbian National Assembly and the ideological founder of the party, who has now been named honorary member of the Kosovo Alliance.
Ristić expressed gratitude for the recognition and called on all Kosovo Serbs to gather on Saturday, June 28th, in front of the Serbian National Assembly to support the students organizing a major protest on Vidovdan.
He also invited students, professors, and activists to visit Serbian monasteries in Kosovo ahead of Vidovdan, stressing the “deep symbolic and spiritual importance” of such a gesture.
